Creative Connections - Sports Arts & Entertainment at SEA District in Corpus Christi, Texas

Corpus Christi Creative Connections is located in the historic Merriman – Bobys home of Heritage Park. Open for public tours as the second oldest home in Corpus Christi and the oldest home in Heritage Park, it features an Art Gallery, Artist Studios & Gift Shop.

In addition to being the business office for the annual Corpus Christi Festival of the Arts. Corpus Christi Creative Connections developed this grassroots movement which now annually elevates the profile of the Coastal Bend’s Arts and has become the largest free artistic event of the region.

Other Creative Connection projects were created for the public in an effort to increase artistic and cultural awareness, support the diversity of artistic expression in partnership with regional artists, art organizations, educational entities and their expressive pursuits.

In April 2012, Creative Connections created a free community art event in Heritage Park called art in the PARK. A monthly artistic project that promotes the creative community, art in the PARK continues to promote and support the arts throughout the entire year appealing to all audiences. Featuring newly installed visual art exhibits, live musical entertainment and art-full KidZone activities of themed “make and take” art projects for those 12 years old and under, art in the PARK offers marketing exposures and sales opportunities to artists and allows the public the opportunity to venture into an artistic, family friendly environment at no charge every month. A city rich in public art creates a museum without walls, thus provides publicly accessible art. Understanding this concept, a Public Art Tour was initially created for the 2008 Festival of the Arts. Expanding its efforts to promote the public art of the community, Corpus Christi Creative Connections’ docent guided tour ride is approximately one hour in length and is an artistic, educational, historical and culturally entertaining view of Corpus Christi, appropriate for the entire family.

ART Speaks, a series of quarterly, intimate, gallery talks support and promote the creative interests of local artists, students and the community. Creative Connections opened its quarterly series ART Speaks, with “In the Artist’s Studio” by Amada Pena, Jr., one of the most recognized artists in the field of Southwest art as a prelude to the art in the PARK weekend. ART Speaks is free and open to the public.

Art workshops are designed for those who desire hands on entry level classes with knowledgeable instructors. Limited in size and designed to allow the student to apply what they have been taught, and the opportunity to ask more questions developing competence through practice.

Creative Connections…….because a connected ART city is a creatively smART city!
